dd- december 21

tonight was our 1st christmas of this year!

we exchanged gifts w/ my bestie & had a blast.
she & addox had way too much fun playing his new rock 'em sock 'em game!

she got to FINALLY open her quilt i made, i have been dying to give it to her since i made it a couple months ago!
i'm so pleased she likes it! :)
handmade gifts are so lovely... she had a "besties" cookbook printed, along with some knitted dishcloths.
mustard and gray... my favorite colors!
they are decoration for now, i'm not sure if i can make myself scrub anything with them!
they're gorgeous.

SO blessed to have a friend that is just like family.
<3

every year we sleep under the tree one night and watch a christmas movie.
addox gathered every blanket and pillow, including his sleeping bag, and we made a huge bed on the floor.
addox chose to watch "santa paws," and finish off the yummy cinnamon rolls that his lisa made for us all.
somehow addox ended up eating most of them. :)

j conked out early

i think every part of my body is sore today, unlike someone else i know that chickened out and went upstairs.
our floor is not very comfortable.
addox and i are hardcore.
even if he did take my blanket around 5am and i feel like i didn't sleep a wink.
i ended up with a small pillow and one blanket.
well worth it!!!

dd- december 20

today was our last day of school for the year!
wahoo!
addox and i made chocolate chip cookies for his teachers, got much needed haircuts, and lounged around at home.

i keep a prayer journal/growth journal/random journal for addox, i try to write in it once a week.
i don't know if he will be interested in it or not when he's "all grown up" but if he is it will be there.
right now he is developing so much, and i love all the questions he comes up with.
sometimes they are hard ones though, and are tough to answer.
the other day he asked j & i why teachers can't talk about God or Jesus at school.
we told him we would think about the best way to explain and talk about it the next day.
if i had answered then & there i would probably have said it is a dumb rule.
his class right now doesn't say the pledge everyday, but i know in kindergarten they will.
i wonder if they will leave out the "under God?"

i didn't want to tell him that some people hate God or even worse, don't believe at all.
i told him that some parents don't love Jesus and don't talk about him to their kids, and don't want the teachers to talk about it either.
he said that is bad and that they won't have "the light," they will try to go to "the light" and God will turn off the switch.
he took our darkness/light lesson quite literally, it seems. :)
he very adamantly said that they should love Jesus or they won't go to heaven.
smart kid.

we have been talking about how christmas isn't about the "stuff," and that even if we didn't have any gifts we would celebrate and be just as happy because we are celebrating Jesus birthday.
we try really hard to guide him and teach without shoving it down his throat and turning him into a parrot.
he needs to think it all through for himself, & with his curious personality he asks tons of questions.
i especially love when he puts things into his own words.
earlier in the week his lunch prayer was:
"God, thank you for my real gift-- of you and Jesus. amen."

i really, really, hope that he never wavers in his faith like i did & has to discover it again as an adult.
i know he will be forever tested, and i pray we do our job to guide him.

------------
on a lighter note, here are some of the other million things he said this week that cracks me up and/or makes me tear up.

"when i grow up i want to be a jase."

when i grow up i want to be a policeman AND a swim teacher. i will go teach kids when they need it and then jump back over."

"if you (meaning as a girl) don't have a peter then how do you pee?"

"it's not about the arguing, what's important is the love." - randomly, very seriously at lunch. when no one was even arguing.

merry almost christmas!

add's self-appointed job is rinsing dishes after dinner.
he takes it quite seriously, and enjoys it so much that if you don't watch him he will go get clean silverware just so he can keep rinsing.
i'm a lucky mom, it really does help.

no you can not have him.

dd- december 18

presents are finally wrapped and under the tree!
i always wish every year i had taken more pictures of the tree and how it looks as more advent ornaments & presents are added.
i'm trying to do better this time around!
:)

i made add's stocking (middle), but i still need to make jason & i's to replace those cheap ones... soon i hope!

this was addox reaction when he saw jacks-the-noodles-jacks on the ceiling fan.
HA
i can't wait to get all this in the album...

christmas cards made & ready to mail! halle-freaking-lujah!

dd- december 16

today was add's school party, and jason had the day off so he got to go too!
add had fun singing with his friends & playing games.
he didn't eat most of the treats they had, but had enough sugar to make him hyper!

dd- december 13

today addox did fantastic at the swim club, each time he is having more fun.
since there is no one in his class this session has been like private lessons, and he loves his teacher.
he says they talk about video games and bananas. :)
i believe it, they seem to talk up a storm.

today he did freestyle all on his own across (width) the pool!
usually he goes halfway to mr. tyler, then (with a little assistance i.e. shove) goes rest of the way.
today he just kept going!
he told me afterwards "next time i'm going to tell mr. tyler to not catch me at all!"
this from the kid that, in a life jacket, would not let go of the side all summer.
now he jumps in, "dives," floats, does different strokes, and is working on breathing already.

go add!!!!!

he surprised himself on that one, he floated way past normal!

ball game

go, baby, go!

and back again...

i have no clue what he was telling everyone but it was a long story whatever it was.
LOL

what a good day to bring my camera. ;)
