once upon a snow - december 4

dec 4

this day started out as a december daily page on the tree lighting... but of course really turned into the engagement day (see a previous post for engagement story)!!! nonetheless, here are some pics from that day.

in my scrapbook dd, there is a sappy, 4 page long journal on the day! i had to, he did good. i have the sweetest soon-to-be-husband, ever. :)

right after the tree lighting

this is a hot air balloon basket that they had sitting in the back of a pickup truck. addox liked it better than santa! it was pretty cool!

self-explanatory <3>

once upon a snow - december 3

december 3rd

mountain house!!

add loves the snow and constantly talks about it in ks because he cannot wait to get to the mountain house to play in it. he was not disappointed!

it was a fun day of snow, silliness, and "pop-sickle" eating.... which mommy introduced him to. i didn't die from doing it, neither will he. jason chooses to play it safe. sissy.

december daily- "once upon a snow"

i have taken on a project (because i have all this spare time, you know) called december daily. december has just been too good of a month already to let pass by unpublished!

for those of you that do not know, the process is to choose one, or a couple, things to write about each day. usually with a picture. it doesn't have to be big things, and the point of the book (at least mine) is to keep it simple. you make the mini-book, or at least have the templates, before december and do each day daily or at the end. depending on how you do it... go to aliedwards.com if you're interested. it really is a neat way to document one of the most fun times of the year, and can be adapted to whatever strikes your fancy.

anyway...

i have decided to title my dd "once upon a snow," i have tried to come up with a catchy title with "carriage" in it (i wonder why?), but i haven't come up with anything i like so far. any ideas, share them!!

i have been religiously journaling/pic taking everyday. even though it is a late start, i have decided to share mine on the blog with just a pic and short journal of the more exciting days. :)

enjoy
!

once upon a snow- dec 1st & 2nd

december 1
addox' great-grandmother gave him his advent calendar when he was a baby. there were certain things she wanted to make sure he had, and that was one of them. He loves putting an new ornament on each day.

december 2

this is our first year to do the countdown book, but we are enjoying it so much!! each day has a segment of the Christmas story and corresponding prayer. it also sometimes has an activity. it is a really fun time for the three of us to share every night in our jammies.

sometimes tickle fights break out afterwards....<3>

thankful jar

i know this is out of order (kind of like my scrapbooking!), but i have been meaning to do this post.

in november we started doing our thankful jar, everyday or every other day (whenever addox wanted to) he wrote things he was thankful for on some fabric leaves and then we would put them in the jar. i was impressed with some of the things he came up with, and the random ones cracked me up. :) he still had been asking to do it, so we have continued to list things we are thankful for even if we don't write them down. i may eventually et around to making the leaves into a thankful book. we shall see... :) i look forward to it as a new fun tradition.

here's some he listed:

that God made addox
our couch
our home
my bikes
addox & mommy's b-day cakes
nova's houses
aunt kim
our remote
that God gave us our furniture on porch
my jase
mommy
my toys
for God giving us food to eat
our house
for God making my daddy
grammie & grandad
nova
sadie
my cups
my cars

engagement story

i think we had an engagement day, not just night! it was wonderful, from beginning to end! it was breckenridge tree lighting day, we started out painting ornaments at paint ready & fire. from there we went to the cookies and cocoa, and followed santa to the tree! there was also a hot air balloon in the back of a truck that shot fire in the air. random idea but very fun. addox says it was better than seeing santa. haha!! then we saw the tree light up, breckenridge is such a snowy old-fashioned town. i absolutely love it.

so to the fun part... we had put in our names at eric's for dinner, and jason mentioned we had time for a carriage ride before they called our names. i had been begging him each time we saw one for the last two years to do it! i love horses and carriage in snow is just so romantic! i should have known then. halfway through the ride he popped the question, & i (think) said yes. i don't really remember, i think i was too surprised. hopefully i did. it was perfect, all the way around. gorgeous horse-drawn carriage (one of them tried to get into my backpack for treats while we were taking pic), christmas music playing, cuddled under blankets, and addox merrily talking to the driver and horses (he loved the ride) oblivious to what jason was doing. haha!

if you ask addox about it all, he will tell you that mommy's ring means addox, jase, and mommy are married. he is precious and the sweetest soul in the world.

did i mention when we got home that night we saw a shooting star? we did... sigh... <3<3<3>

officially engaged!!! <3 the end. <3

p.s. i will never make fun of a sappy bride-to-be again.
probably.
