giant cookie+pie crust=yumminess
we made a Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie today. i may be the only person that has never made one before.
ABSOLUTELY SCRUMPTIOUS. seriously, a home-made pie crust AND (giant) chocolate chip cookie all-in-one? perfection. simple, easy, cheap, not even that pretty, but sooooo yum.
recipe here. don't forget the ice cream.

rainy day folders
while going through some things yesterday i found several "rainy day folders." i made them when i worked for a preschool a looonnngggg time ago. it seems like anyway, i guess addox is only four. anyway, he enjoyed doing them all. we also found an old alphabet set, so he liked tracing them and copying onto his own paper.

map
i noticed when we got out of the car yesterday addox had his little etch n' sketch (thanks gramma & mima!) and was drawing while slowly going up our stairs and walking to our door. when we got inside i realized what he was doing.
addox has always loved maps. he learned a long time ago what they were, that water was blue, land was green, etc. he loves our "maps" (gps's) in the cars. jason's is built in, mom's isn't so fancy so he always wants me to take it. lucky for him i get lost a lot, so we frequently use it.
add was making a map from the car to the door. he drew the turns, stairs, and buildings. even some of the neighbors doors. i thought it was awesome, he has always been creative but lately it is a more "mature" creative, i guess? i absolutely love watching his mind work and creativity develop.
i wish i had taken pictures of him coming up to the door, but i was loaded with groceries at the time! so, the ones of him finishing up will have to do.

bike outting
after school today i decided that we would play hooky from laundry and spend the afternoon outside instead! it was wonderful! add just took off, it is fun to see how much stronger he has become since last year. i don't have to help him anymore for sure! i may have to take up running, my legs hurt from trying to keep up today! we rode/walked about a couple miles. we took the path down the road to the pond, then around it to the park. then came back. he was so thrilled to be outside!
proud bikerider
despite the snow, it really was beautifully warm(er) outside!

sick. go away.
addox is a pretty healthy kid. but the last two days have been an exception. his temperature actually got up to 104.3 this morning. SCARY. he has only had such a high temperature once before, when he was about 1 1/2.
i will never get used to my baby being sick. i hate everything about it. he is miserable and i would do anything to take that away. and he fights his medicine whenever he has to take any. he actually is doing better this time, it isn't as bad as when he was younger. i used to hold him down while he was kicking and screaming like he was going insane. it still gets so frustrating though. and i feel horrible because i'm forcing it on him. i know i am doing it for his own good, and so does he, but it doesn't make it better for either of us. i just gave him a dose, now he is asleep on my lap. poor baby...
i usually hold off on medicine unless necessary. no, i don't think it is going to harm him for life, but i also think it is best to hold off unless his body needs help fighting the "sick" as he calls it. today he needed it. a combination of tylenol and ibuprofin is what is helping knock down the temp. but it is still yo-yoing.
i hate hearing his little croaky voice ask "is my sick gone, mom?" like if i say yes it will just all go away. i wish i had that power.
but i am also so, so thankful that i am able to take care of him. wouldn't trade this job for the world.

SSMT #3
my 3rd SSMT-
“If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, for each one should carry his own load.”
—Galatians 6:3–5
A. I shouldn’t compare myself with others.
B. When I compare myself with others, I am showing disrespect.
C. I should compare myself with my own potential in Christ.
amen.
ps3'n it
so addox just recently started playing jason's ps3- sunday- to be exact. they saw a batman game saturday so jason researched it and they went back sunday to buy it. it has become the thing to do every night.
i do not play video games, too many buttons, too much effort. i'd rather scrapbook. or read. or bake. or take pictures of the boys playing it. but add wanted me to play tonight so i did, and he had to show me how. seriously? 4 year old learned in 3 days how to use the million buttons, and had to teach his mom. i wasn't a good student though, i died. then he took the controller away. i guess i am a lost cause?
but i do enjoy watching the boys play, they coach each other. add usually jumps up, down, and around while he advises jason what to do. occasionally addox tries to steal the controller. or, he sits on jason's shoulders and "tickles" his head. addox thinks this is hilarious.
btw, when i was taking the picture with add on his shoulders, jason said "this is going to be blogged tomorrow, isn't it." awwwww, my honey knows me so well. he gave up the fight long ago, i heart him.
